Visiting Helsinki
Helsinki truly is one of the best cities in the world! It’s gorgeous, extremely walkable, and very safe! We got some group discount codes for hotels (below) and we have also recommended neighborhoods to stay in if you choose to book an Airbnb (below).
But honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of the hotels or neighborhoods you choose to stay in! If you have any questions or would like to check in before booking something, send us an email or message.

The Folks Hotel
We are especially biased because we met at the co-working space right next door - so this area holds a special place in our hearts! This is a newer hotel in the Konepaja neighborhood, which is known for its fun bars and ease to walk around. The hotel also has a wonderful breakfast buffet - it's worth staying for that alone!

Clarion Hotel Helsinki
With a beautiful top floor bar and spa, this is a great location for seeing the city. Easily walkable, with a tram stop out front and the ferry terminal to Estonia at the end of the road. We stayed here a couple of years ago for Kristen's birthday weekend!

Hotel Katajanokka
Well, we've never been to this hotel, but they gave us a discount code for our guests to use, so now we highly recommend this one :D Katajanokka is a beautiful area of Helsinki. It's near the main square and close to the harbor. Fun fact - this hotel used to be a prison!

Punavuori
Punavuori is one of Helsinki’s trendiest neighborhoods, known for its creative vibe and vibrant design scene. This area is filled with boutique shops, cozy cafes, art galleries, and design studios, making it a great choice for tourists who love art, culture, and unique finds. Its central location offers easy access to the city's main attractions, while still giving visitors a taste of Helsinki's bohemian spirit. With its laid-back atmosphere and picturesque streets, Punavuori is perfect for travelers who want to experience the city's cool, contemporary side.
(This is the area Kristen lived in for two years when she first moved to Helsinki!)

Kallio
Kallio is Helsinki’s hip, alternative district, perfect for travelers looking for a more laid-back, vibrant atmosphere. The area is filled with vintage stores, vegan cafes, and live music venues. Despite its lively energy, Kallio is close to nature with parks like the famous Karhupuisto, and it's a central location with easy access by foot, metro, tram, or bus. For a more quiet visit, stay in the Hakaniemi area. For a more bar and party area, stay up near Sörnäinen. Either way, make sure to go by the Hakaniemi food hall, built in 1914.
(This is where Tommi lived before we bought our new apartment!)

Katajanokka
Katajanokka is a charming, island-like neighborhood just a short walk from Helsinki’s city center. Known for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture and waterfront views, it offers a peaceful retreat while still being close to key attractions like the Uspenski Cathedral and the famous Allas Sea Pool. Katajanokka is perfect for tourists who want to experience a quieter side of the city (Johan & Nyström is one of the best!). Its relaxed vibe and proximity to the city make it a great place to stay for a scenic yet convenient visit.
While there, make sure to see the famously controversial Alvar Aalto building, known as the 'Sugar cube'.
